Latia Suttle

Latia Suttle was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She joined the military when she was 17 years old and honorably retired from the U.S. Army in 2014 as a Chief Warrant Officer Two. Her MOS's (Military Occupational Skills) were 920B Supply Systems Technician and 920A Property Accounting Technician. She had many duty assignments and deployments such as Ansbach, Germany; Dharan, Saudi Arabia; Fort Bragg, NC; Darien, IL; Dangriga, Belize; Camp Casey, South Korea; Fort Lee, VA; Fort Buchanan, PR (Puerto Rico), Baton Rouge, LA; Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; March Air Reserve Base, CA and Iraq. Latia is the Founder of the Reimagining Child Safety Group. Latia advocates for Women Veterans and their children stuck in the Family Court and Dependency Court crisis where children are being taken away from their mothers. Latia has written several resolutions for various organizations to support veterans to include those impacted by Family Court, deportation and renaming military bases after black women to name a few. Latia is the recipient of the 2023 CalVet Trailblazer Award which honors remarkable individuals who are veterans themselves, dedicated to championing the cause of fellow veterans, with a special focus on women who have served. The awardees are resilient women who have transitioned from military service to civilian life, achieving personal success, and actively assisting others on their journey to do the same. She also received multiple awards from Community Coalition and an award from the City of Los Angeles in 2024. She wrote and submitted a bill proposal to start identifying Military Veterans when cases are open in Family Court. That proposal later developed into SB 1182 (Eggman). The bill was approved and signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom on September 17, 2022. The law went into effect in January 2024. There is so much more to do for veterans like herself who have never had a criminal charge, never been arrested, never consumed alcohol nor drugs. Veterans should not have to commit a crime to get the same wrap around support and connection to services that's given in Veterans Treatment Court which is only available to veterans who have a criminal charge in addition to having a substance abuse problem or mental health challenge. SB 1182 (Eggman) is a start in the right direction to prevent a downward spiral for veterans with cases in Family Court.

Daphne “Dee” Wright

Daphne “Dee” Wright is originally from Dublin, Georgia but considers herself a military brat as the first twelve years of her life were spent on Army bases.  She is a disabled veteran and served six and a half years in the United States Navy as a Cryptologic Technician Operator. She has completed over 100 service-connected claims for Veterans in the community, through work with non-profits and the homeless Veteran population since 2020. Daphne is a self-proclaimed claims GURU and has a track record of over 90% successful claims for veterans to receive their benefits with the first application. She also assists with getting OTH (Other Than Honorable) and BCD (Bad Conduct Discharges) upgraded. Daphne Wright holds a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Ashford University, Associate Degree in Business Administration and Associate Degree in Speech and Drama from Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Georgia. She also holds an Associate Degree from the Art Institute of California in Film Production and a Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Video with a minor in Theatre from Georgia State University where she was the first African American student to win the TRISPRO scholarship and was the co-founder of an African American performing group, the Black Student Theatre Ensemble. Daphne also known as Dee Wright is the owner of Dee Wright Productions. She is a writer, director, producer, comedian and actress. Daphne has facilitated peer lead groups such as Writing for Therapy and Skills for Psychological Recovery (SPR). A little known fact about Daphne is that she was on the U.S. Military Paralympics Track & Field Team from 2009 – 2012. She held 2 American Records in the Javelin and Shot Put in Class 38 and was ranked top ten in the world in 4 events in December 2011. The US Olympic Committee selected her for The William E. Simon Olympic Endowment in 2012.

Marnisha Mintlow

Marnisha Mintlow is originally from Dayton, Ohio. From serving in the Marine Corps to serving her community! She participates in making the community she lives in and those she has lived in better. Whether it be as an educator, coach or volunteering with a local or national non-profit. Her goal is to Give Life! Marnisha served four years in the Marine Corps, stationed at Cherry Point, NC, 2nd Marine Corps Aircraft Wing, Aviation Logistics Department. She was responsible for knowing the location of all the Marine Corps aircraft on the East Coast. She also maintained the Technical Publication Library (TPL) where the repair manual for each aircraft was located. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps she relocated to Virginia Beach where she graduated from Bryant & Stratton College with a Bachelor's in Business Administration with a minor in Information Technology. While in Virginia it was her pleasure to be a charter member of the Norfolk, VA chapter of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), where she served on the membership committee and lead the Public Relations Committee. She became a member of the Alpha Chi Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda, Sorority, Inc., where she served proudly as the Journalist for two years. From 2006 to 2016, she was honored to be an educator, and step team coach in a variety of cities in the Hampton Roads area. She was able to facilitate learning in multiple subjects, mostly Math, Special Education and Microsoft Excel, to all learners from Pre-Kindergaten to college students and adults. In 2016, she donated her kidney. She relocated to Los Angeles California and earned her Masters of Business Administration from University of Arkansas Grantham. She currently teaches Microsoft Excel at a community adult school and tutors on the weekends. She is a life time member of the NCNW and active with the Mary McLeod Bethune, Los Angeles Section. She is the President of the Gamma Mu chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., San Fernando Valley Alumnae Chapter where she serves on multiple committees and on the Far West Regional Grow with Google committee. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Education in Leadership for Organizations at the University of Dayton. Her research areas are Leadership, Inclusion, Motivation and Engagement in the Black and Non-Profit communities. She currently is a resident of Los Angeles county, California where she continues to volunteer for non-profit organizations that advocate for veterans, women and Black people. She is a mother of 2 sons and Grammy Ma to 1 granddaughter.
